Next Steps

The cornerstone of our next steps programme for Sixth Form students is the provision of support for whatever path they choose to take. We encourage students to research and explore a variety of post-AHS options so that the decisions they make are well-informed. We do not assume that everyone wants to apply to university. We guide students to use a variety of complementary resources to explore their options, including Unifrog, our Next Steps Evening for Year 12 students and their parents/carers and online and in-person content from universities and other providers. Guidance and support is delivered by AHS staff to the whole year group, tutor groups or interest groups. Individual support is always available and students are always welcome to discuss their plans and questions with members of the Sixth Form team or their form tutor. Consultations are also available with the independent careers advisor who supports AHS students.

Our Future Success Day in the summer term of Year 12 enables students to participate in a number of different activities related to next steps, including drafting a personal statement, starting to complete the UCAS application form and finding out how to apply for apprenticeships.

Below is a comprehensive list of the courses our students went on to study in 2024. We are proud of the diverse range of courses and apprenticeships our students move on to - reflecting our desire for them to develop a broad set of skills and knowledge whilst they are with us.
