Research informed practice is at the heart of teaching and learning at Aylesbury High School, playing a pivotal role in the development of both our staff and students. Our Assistant Head, Ms Raven, works closely with the wider Teaching & Learning team to ensure AHS is at the forefront of pedagogical research, as we strive towards our Mission to provide an ambitious education that stimulates critical and creative thinking.
Research shows that being a successful learner is not about whether a young person has a 'natural aptitude' for it - the skills for becoming a successful learner can, and should, be taught and learnt. Research also shows that, when a young person develops these learning skills effectively, it can have a huge impact on their progress and outcomes. Our new UPGRADE programme has been tailor-made by Mrs Medley, our Pedagogy Lead. Through a series of face to face assemblies and sessions from Years 7 through to 13, AHS students learn how to ace their learning.
