    SECTION A          CORE SUBJECTS
    30 one-hour lessons per fortnight

    English 

    7 lessons/fortnight 

    2 GCSEs - English Language and English Literature

    Maths 

    6 lessons/fortnight 

    1 GCSE - Mathematics (Some students will also study for a second qualification - Level 2 Certificate in Further Maths)

    Science - taught as 3 separate subjects 

    12 lessons/fortnight

    3 GCSEs - Biology, Chemistry and Physics

    Learning 4 Life (L4L) - non examined

    1 lesson/fortnight including Religious Education** and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)

    Physical Education - non examined

    4 lessons/fortnight

     

    **Religious Education is taken by all students. Religious Studies is also available as a GCSE subject in the option blocks.

     

    SECTION B        FOUR OPTION CHOICES
    One choice from each block; 5 one-hour lessons per fortnight

    LANGUAGES 

    French, German, Spanish

    CREATIVES 

    Art (Art, Craft and Design), Computer Science, Dance, Drama, Engineering, Food Preparation and Nutrition, Music, Physical Education, Textile Design

    HUMANITIES 

    Business, Economics, Geography, History, Religious Studies

    OTHER 

    Another Language, Another Creative, Another Humanity

    (Note that there is one combination that we strongly discourage.  This is Art and Textiles as they are actually examined under the same syllabus and the NEA load would be very pressured.  If you were considering this combination, we would ask for a meeting in school with parents to discuss the potential implications.)
