At AHS, we are proud of the diversity of our students and staff and committed to promoting a positive and diverse culture in which all are valued and supported to fulfil their potential irrespective of their age, disability, race, religion, belief, sex or sexual orientation. We aim to do our very best to challenge inequality and promote diversity.
AHS promotes equality of opportunity and diversity across the school. Through our rich curriculum we teach our students to understand, appreciate and respect difference in the world and its people, celebrating the things we share in common across cultural, religious, ethnic and socio-economic communities.
Our students engage with views, beliefs and opinions that are different from their own in considered ways. They show respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law and no forms of discrimination are tolerated.
Please see our updated and Diversity policy here, which includes our Equality Objectives
ID is our student working group for Inclusion and Diversity at AHS. It is led by our Year 13 ID Ambassadors, identifiable by our rainbow lanyards. Our Student ID working party meets on the first Tuesday of every month and anyone is welcome to join!
The Ambassadors are here to help you with any issues or ideas you may have relating to inclusion and diversity at AHS. You can also talk to us about concerns of bullying, discrimination and harassment, although we will involve the school’s safeguarding team if we feel they could better support you.

Spectrum is our inclusive, fun and confidential space at AHS for all LGBTQ+ students and allies in Years 7 -13.
We influence all aspects of student life to make sure that everyone feels accepted and cared for, both in the social and academic sectors of their education.
Spectrum is supervised and typically runs every Friday lunchtime in H12. You can currently access Spectrum via Google Classroom – where there is an abundance of fun quizzes, news articles and discussions relating to the community and its history!
